Eligibility Areas According to the Michigan Rules for Special Education (MARSE)
The Revised Administrative Rules for Special Education, approved by the Michigan State Board of Education, define the types of special education certifications/disabilities for which special education services are provided. A description of each impairment follows:
- (SLI) Speech and Language Impaired
- (SLD) Specific Learning Disability
- (EI) Emotional Impairment
- (CI) Cognitive Impairment
- (SXI) Severely Multiply Impaired
- (ECDD) Early Childhood Developmental Delay
- (PI) Physical Impairment
- (OHI) Other Health Impairment
- (DHH) Deaf or Hard of Hearing Impairment
- (VI) Visual Impairment
- (ASD) Autism Spectrum Disorder
- (TBI) Traumatic Brain Injury
- Deaf-Blindness
